Tom has become one of the most popular Piano and music theory teachers in his local area of Guildford and surrounding areas. Teaching many private students and working in several schools and colleges as peripatetic teacher and lecturer. His lessons are popular because he applies the same attention to detail from his performances to his lessons. combines a blend of contemporary as well as more traditional classical and romantic genres.
Tom has a huge passion and interest in theory and ear training as well as instrumental education. He believes that it is such an important part in learning music and really helps towards performance and understanding the language of music. This began at the age of 11 when Tom first saw Jools Holland perform and decided that he wanted to achieve the same level of improvisation skills that couldn't be achieved by the traditional grade books. He started listening to old rock 'n' roll, soul, Motown and pop albums and tried to replicate what he heard. This has lead him to become an in-demand contemporary session musician with well trained ears and a professional knowledge of music.
Tom does teach at his house in Guildford and will also travel to your house. The prices below are for a student to come to his home. Prices are slightly higher for Tom to travel to the students house to allow for mileage and extra travel time but please ask for a quote to be sure.
